// Supporting digital delivery across Britain's new high-speed railway

HS2 is Britain’s new high speed railway, creating a transformative transport network that will connect London, the West Midlands and future destinations across the country. As one of the largest and most complex infrastructure programmes ever undertaken in the United Kingdom, the programme relies on trusted information to coordinate thousands of engineering activities, multiple delivery partners and vast quantities of project data throughout design, construction and handover.

As a trusted engineering consultant to the HS2 programme, Informed Engineering has supported the development and implementation of structured information management processes that help create confidence across every stage of delivery.

Working with project teams over a number of years, Informed Engineering has provided Information Management and BIM strategy, digital advisory services, Common Data Environment (CDE) development, data cleansing and structured as-built and handover processes, along with a team to deliver to the strategy. These services have helped ensure engineering information remains accurate, validated and aligned with operational requirements as projects progress from construction towards long-term operation.

Using Bentley ProjectWise and information management frameworks aligned with ISO 19650 principles, Informed Engineering has supported the creation of a controlled digital environment where project information can be managed consistently, shared securely and validated throughout the asset lifecycle. By treating information as a critical engineering asset rather than a project by-product, the team has helped improve collaboration across multiple contractors while reducing the risks associated with incomplete or inconsistent information.

Alongside these strategic responsibilities, a dedicated delivery team has supported the validation of construction outputs, ensuring that as-built information is transformed into reliable operational intelligence rather than archived documentation. This disciplined approach provides greater confidence that digital information accurately reflects the physical asset and is ready to support future operation and maintenance.

By embedding information governance from the earliest stages of delivery through to project handover, Informed Engineering has helped strengthen assurance across one of the United Kingdom’s most significant infrastructure programmes. The result is a structured information environment that improves collaboration, supports informed decision making and ensures trusted asset information is available throughout the railway’s operational lifecycle.
