// Building the information framework behind Britain's high speed railway
London St Pancras Highspeed operates the UK’s only high speed railway connecting London with Europe through the Channel Tunnel while providing vital passenger services between the capital and Kent.
Managing infrastructure of this scale depends on more than engineering expertise. It requires trusted information that allows projects to be delivered consistently and assets to be managed with confidence throughout their lifecycle.

As the organisation continued to strengthen its digital capability, there was an opportunity to establish a more consistent approach to information management across future programmes of work. Years of project information and evolving delivery practices highlighted the need for clear governance, standardised processes and a common framework that consultants, contractors and suppliers could adopt from the outset of every project.
Informed Engineering was appointed to develop the information management processes that would underpin this next stage of digital delivery. Working collaboratively with the client, the team produced a comprehensive suite of guidance including Exchange Information Requirements, Organisational Information Requirements and information production and delivery plans, covering aspects from procurement through to handover. Together these documents established a consistent baseline for managing information across future projects.
Rather than creating documents for compliance alone, the focus was on developing practical and usable processes and guidance documents that could be applied across multiple projects and delivery teams. Every element of the framework was designed to improve collaboration, strengthen governance and ensure project information remained structured, accessible and reliable from project initiation through to handover.
The result is an information management framework that provides greater consistency across future investment programmes while giving delivery partners clear expectations for how information should be created, managed and exchanged.
By establishing trusted digital standards rather than isolated project documentation, Informed Engineering has helped create a stronger foundation for future infrastructure delivery across one of the UK’s most important transport networks.
