Nagra, Switzerland’s National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste, is responsible for the safe management and disposal of the country’s radioactive waste. Headquartered in Wettingen, the organisation operates within one of the world’s most highly regulated infrastructure sectors, where reliable information is essential to supporting governance, compliance and long term decision making.
Working in partnership with Colin Eddie Consulting Limited, Informed Engineering was commissioned to undertake an independent review of Nagra’s information management approach. The organisation required specialist expertise to assess how information was being created, managed and shared, while identifying opportunities to strengthen existing processes and support future improvements.
Drawing on extensive experience in information management and digital engineering, Informed Engineering reviewed modelling processes, organisational information requirements and existing working practices to understand how information supported the organisation’s operational objectives. The review identified opportunities to improve information governance, strengthen the management of information and reduce reliance on spreadsheet based processes through a more structured approach.
The findings were presented in a detailed report containing practical recommendations to help Nagra develop a more consistent and resilient information management framework. Although the commission was completed over a relatively short period, it required specialist knowledge to evaluate complex information environments, understand operational challenges and provide independent advice that aligned with the organisation’s long term objectives.
The project demonstrates Informed Engineering’s capability to provide strategic information management and digital advisory services that help organisations make informed decisions about how information supports the performance, governance and future development of critical infrastructure.
